Minister Praises Qazvin Calligraphy Biennial

Tehran, Sept 6, IRNA - Culture Minister Ali Jannati expressed satisfaction with the large number and high quality of works being showcased at the Third International Calligraphy Biennial in Qazvin. Speaking during a visit to the expo, Jannati said the exhibition is among the country’s most significant cultural events and plays key role in sublimating the Iranian art of calligraphy. The event provides prominent Iranian calligraphers with an opportunity to meet. It also allows young artists to meet them and benefit from their information and experience, he noted. “Fortunately, the biennial has been welcomed by prominent Iranian calligraphers who will guarantee its continuity.” Jannati stressed that holding calligraphy festivals will create competitiveness among Iranian calligraphers, help young artists expose their talents and improve the art. He hoped that the art’s improving trend will continue. “Qazvin province has raised a large number of great calligraphers and has played a significant role in improving and sublimating the art of calligraphy. That is why it has become Iran’s calligraphy capital,” the minister noted. A total of 400 calligraphy works are being showcased at the event which opened on August 28 and will continue until September 17.
