MINISTER OF SPORT MEETS SHOOTERS

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Minister of Culture, Sport and Tourism Ts.Oyungerel Tuesday received shooters of the national selected team. The visitors were O.Gundegmaa, a State Honored Sportswoman and Olympic silver medallist; Z.Ganbaatar, who has been qualified for the shooting event of the 2016 Summer Paralympics; and their coaches. "I returned back to the training. I noted some changes in the shooting competition rules but I continue exercising. So I got 21 points out of 25 in the two series of World Cup. In previous World Cup tournaments, 16-17 points were quite enough to reach first places. At the World Cup series, I suffered from panics in the final’s beginning due to the rules’ alteration, but I managed to win a medal," said Gundegmaa who grabbed a gold medal in the ISSF World Cup series. After this the Minister and the athletes considered urgent problems concerning training places and supply of pistols and bullets. A lack of places for the shooters to train is still one of the major problems, "plus, we do not have enough electric devices and advanced techniques", said the coaches. Another problem is the bullet supply. "A draft amendment to the law on fire weapons has been drawn up, but parliament has not discussed it yet, if the draft is not approved, our trainings will certainly worsen, in general, there is no legal environment for the shooting sports," the coaches told the Minister. Professional federations sent to this draft their proposals on importing concrete amount of bullets and guns for this sport and on altering a clause which prohibits under 21 people from using fire weapons. "it affects our young promising shooters," the coaches explained. In response, the Minister said that a bill is being worked out on domestic functions, operation and management of the Center of Technical Sports because it has transmitted to a state ownership.
