Ministerial Committee of Prince Nayef's Award to Meet Tomorrow

Doha, September 07 (QNA) - Under the auspices of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, the ministerial committee tasked with discussing the statute and the regulations of the Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud's Arab safety award will hold its meeting at the St. Regis Doha Hotel on Monday. The meeting will be attended by the interior ministers of the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Morocco, the Republic of Tunisia and the Republic of Algeria in addition to the General Secretariat of Arab Interior Ministers' Council. Doha hosted today a preparatory meeting for the ministerial meeting at the St. Regis Doha Hotel, chaired by Qatar and attended by Secretary General of the Arab Interior Ministers' Council Dr Mohammed bin Ali Kuman, who opened the meeting in the presence of the delegations of the participating countries. The ministerial committee meeting which will be held here tomorrow will approve the statute and the executive regulations of the award, said Major General Dr Abdullah Yusuf Al Mal, legal advisor to the Minister of Interior told reporters today, pointing out that the ministerial committee was mandated by the Arab interior ministers in their recently meeting in Marrakech, Morocco. He added that Prince Nayef bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud's award was proposed by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani during the Arab interior ministers' meeting in Riyadh last year. At the preparatory meeting, members of the ministerial committee finalized the recommendations which will be presented to the ministerial committee's meeting in Doha tomorrow (Monday) , HE legal advisor to the Minister of Interior said. For his part, Kuman extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior over Qatar's hosting activities of the late Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud's Arab safety award. In a statement, Kuman said that the proposal made by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa during 30th Session of the Arab Interior Ministers Council in Riyadh, shows his love and appreciation - on his own behalf, and on behalf of the Arab interior ministers - to the late Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz in recognition of his efforts for the Arab safety over more than three decades. The Secretary General of the Arab Interior Ministers' Council added that the ministerial committee's meeting will adopt the statute and the executive regulations of the award, saying the objective of the award is to raise awareness that security and safety is a common social responsibility. This responsibility is not limited to the security apparatus only but to all citizens. He stressed that the proposal of the award received a unanimous support from all Arab countries and the Arab interior ministers. Responding to a question by Qatar News Agency, Kuman said that the first Prince Nayef's award will be granted in 2016, but the award's details will be announced during a meeting Arab interior ministers in Algeria in 2015.
