Minister:Royal Institution, national unity must be upheld among Thai people

BANGKOK, September 18 (TNA) - Thailand's new Interior Minister General Anupong Paojinda has assigned provincial governors to help drive ahead the government's ongoing roadmap, while also creating national unity and sustaining public upholding of the Royal Institution. General Anupong laid down the policies on Thursday when he chaired a meeting of all provincial governors and other Interior Ministry senior officials, suggesting that the the ministry's policies be included in their one-year action plans for the concrete implementation in their respective areas in due course, emphasized on creating unity and sustaining public upholding of the Thai monarchy. The interior minister also sought their cooperation to proceed with the second-phase roadmap being implemented by the government and the army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) and to be prepared for supporting the work of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) and the National Reform Council (NRC) within the limited timeframe. The interior minister explained that his guided policies have three dimensions, including the governors and senior officials' observation of their duties and mandate to promote and support national reform and public unity and conciliation; follow the NCPO's policies; and help drive ahead the government's policies based on the national development strategies focused on understanding, access to and development the public, as advised by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
