Ministry: “Thalassemia” medicines to be provided soon

Manama, Jun. 1 (BNA): The Ministry of Health said that it is following up on what is being published about the “Thalassemia” disease medicines, noting that the necessary administrative and control procedures to provide the “Exjade” medicine for patients are in their final stages. The Ministry asserted that the procedures are necessary to ensure the safe use of the drug by patients, adding that the alternative medicine which was provided to replace the previous one had not been accepted by all patients. The Ministry of Health reassured all patients that efforts and procedures are underway to provide the medicine as quickly as possible in order dispense it to the patients once the required procedures have been completed in coordination with the National Committee for the Unified Purchase of Drugs and the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA). The Ministry expressed its full readiness to receive and respond to any remarks, and to follow up on them through the Patient Complaints Office on 32220112.
