Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The lambing time has been in full swing in Mongolia, a number of offspring born has reached two million a week. These and other figures were given by the Ministry of industry and agriculture April 16. By April 12, six million 507 thous. heads of mother livestock gave birth, their six million 465 thous. offspring, or 99,3 percent, is alive. Nationwide, 269 thous. heads of livestock, or 0,67 percent, has been lost, for example, in Khovsgol aimag 42,197, in Arkhangai 41,394, in Zavkhan 32,620, in Dornod 30,110. When the severe winter began, conditions were very difficult in some 90 soums of 17 aimags but thanks to prompt measures, taken at the Ministry and the President's appeal to help herders, the tough wintering was overcome. For it some 4,4 billion togrog were spent, forces of the Ministry and of National emergency management authority were sent to the provinces, and some 400 million togrog were collected by the Mongolians to buy 1,200 tons of fodder, 2,000 packs of hay, 50 milllion togrog worth materials and gers (national dwelling) for 54 soums of 11 provinces.
