Ministry of Economy Extended the Initiative of Adding Flour to Food Supplies until End of Ramadan

Doha, June 01 (QNA) - The Ministry of Economy and Commerce announced extending the period of disbursement of flour with the food supplies until the end of the holy month of Ramadan, for cards that have not received flour sacks during the month of May. The quota will be transferred electronically to the month of June so that the citizens benefiting from the initiative can get a sack of flour in addition to the monthly quota of other food items. The Ministry had earlier announced the addition of flour within the food supplies during the month of Ramadan only, where the citizens who benefit from this initiative will receive a 50kgs sack of flour in addition to the monthly ration of other food supplies. In May, the flour ration (50 kg bag) was started at a price of QAR 32 per ration card and the disbursement of that is expected to continue until the end of the holy month. Beneficiaries, who have not yet received their flour ration during the month of May, can receive their quota until the end of the holy month through the various branches of Al Meera Consumer Goods Company. They can also request their quota through the application of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce on smart devices (MEC-Qatar). The Ministry stressed that the subsidized food supplies and feeds are right to the citizen that may not be waived to others regardless of the reasons, and that the subsidy card and its secret code must be kept in a safe place and not to allow others to hold or use them or otherwise they would be subject to legal accountability. The Ministry of Economy and Commerce warned against the violation of the law regulating the handling of subsidized goods, as the penalties for violating the law range from imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year and a fine of not more than QAR 500,000 or one of these penalties.
