Ministry of education, "British Council" organization, "Sport for Development" PU sign protocol on cooperation

Baku, February 12, AzerTAc Ministry of education, “British Council” organization and “Sport for Development” PU has signed a protocol of intention on cooperation, on February 11. According to the Ministry, the event informed about the preparation of the project on "TOPS Program - students' physical health, psychological stability and improving training Achievements" and the commencement of implementation of initial stage since the beginning of this year with the support of "Bakcell" Company. The goal of the project carried out by “Sport for Development” Public Union is to provide the teachers of physical education in general education schools, with the modern teaching methods- TOPS program. The application of this program, created by British experts and widely used in the United Kingdom, will help to create an enabling environment to ensure the development of skills in the areas of education and to protect the physical and psychological health. According to the Deputy Minister of Education Firudin Gurbanov, development of physical health, psychological stability and training achievements of students by physical education and sport is priority for modern education. According to the “State Strategy for the Development of Education in the Republic of Azerbaijan”, this project will also be carried out by taking into consideration the relevant events and activities. Elizabeth White, British Council Azerbaijan Director, spoke off projects carried out in Azerbaijan by this organization and working partnership with the Ministry of Education. Mehman Karimov, Chairman & CEO at "Sport For Development" Public Union, said about the history and the benefits of of TOPs program on development of students' abilities and protection of the physical and psychological health. Within the project methodological materials for teachers will be prepared for more efficient and innovative ways of teaching of physical education and sports lessons by the methodology of Tops. Deputy Chief of Baku City Department of Education Mahabbat Valiyeva appreciated the providing physical education teachers with modern teaching aids.
