Minor quake hits Thai North

CHINAG RAI, THAILAND, May 11 (TNA) - A minor 1.9 magnitude earthquake jolted Thailand's northern Chiang Rai province early Saturday morning, causing no impact on locals. Somboon Kosittanont, chief of Thailand's geological office, region 1, in the northern Lampang province, told journalists that the minor tremor, with its epicentre located in Chiang Rai's Pan district, was recorded at around 4:10am without any impact on locals. Somboon said that the minor quake was caused by the inactive Phayao fault, acknowledging that most earthquake-prone areas in Thailand are located on inactive faults. (TNA)
