Minsk talks likely to influence IMF’s decision on new loan to Ukraine - source

BRUSSELS, February 12. /TASS/. It is clear from the would-be outcome of the ‘Normandy Quartet’ summit in the Belarussian capital Minsk that it may influence a decision of the International Monetary Fund /IMF/ on a new loan to Ukraine, a European source told TASS. "Minsk is going to determine lots of things, including the IMF loan line," the diplomat said adding "it is of fundamental importance [for the Fund] whether a country is in a state of war or not." Actually, IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde confirmed the information earlier on Thursday saying that the IMF and Ukraine had reached considerable progress at the talks on a new loan to Kiev but refused to elaborate on the issue. Lagarde told a news conference upon the end of the Eurogroup’s informal meeting that the sides had made significant progress but she would announce the details in a special statement on Ukraine on Thursday morning.
