Missing Aviastar Twin Otter Found; No Survivors

JAKARTA, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- The Twin Otter aircraft owned by Aviastar Airlines which was reported missing on Friday has been located at Bukit Pajaja, Kampung Ulu Salu, Luwu district, South Sulawesi. According to local television reports, there were no survivors among the 10 people on board, which included three crew members. The wreakage was found by villagers who had helped in the search and rescue operation. The plane had departed from Masamba Airport around 2 pm on Friday but failed to arrive at Makassar, South Sulawesi after an hour as scheduled. South Sulawesi district police chief Pudji Hartanto Iskandar was reported to have said that efforts were being made to bring out the remains. The victims including a toddler were confirmed to be locals. Masamba is a small riverine town in the Luwu Regency of South Sulawesi, and serves as a border between Central Sulawesi and West Sulawesi. -- BERNAMA
