Missing Sukhoi Plane's Cause Still Uncertain

Jakarta, May 10 (ANTARA) - The head of the Indonesian National Search and Rescue Agency Daryatmo still could not confirm the cause of the commercial aircraft Sukhoi Superjet 100 that went missing on Wednesday. "Until now there is still no certainty (why the lost contact happened)," Daryatmo said in a press conference here on Wednesday night. Daryatmo explained that the agency will mobilize all its resources to search for the ill-fated Russian commercial plane. He also said that the agency has sent two helicopters to search the missing airplane from Halim Perdanakusumah airport in Jakarta and Atang sanjaya Airport in Bogor. However, due to the bad weather in the area, the two helicopters then returned to the airports. Meanwhile, the National Transportation Safety Committee Chairman Tatang Kurnadi expressed hope that the National Search and Rescue agency will be able to find the plane`s black box. "Black box is important to find out the cause," said Tatang. He also asked all parties not to make own conclusions on the cause of the missing Russian made plane. Tatang confirmed that his committee will endeavor to reveal the cause and expressed a variety of things related to the missing plane incident. "We will reveal it to the public," he said. Earlier, information received from airport authority Angkasa Pura II Spokesperson Harry Cahyono said that the plane took off from Halim Perdanakusumah airport on Wednesday at 14:21 pm and flew to Bogor area at an altitude of 10.000 feet, and then down to an altitude of 6.000 feet. Furthermore, the plane`s pilot asked to rotate right and then disappeared from radar at 14:33 pm. "Radio communication was cut off," he said. He said the last plane`s position is located at the western part of the Atang Sanjaya airport and based on the latest radar coordinates reading, the plane is at the top of Mount Salak, West Java. Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft is the first commercial jet aircraft manufactured by Russian Sukhoi and certified by the FAA (Federation Aviation Association) of the United States two years ago. The missing Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft carried a number of businessmen and officials to promote the plane`s sales, the aircraft is reported to have made two demonstration flights at Halim Perdanakusumah airport, Jakarta. The plane carried 50 invited guests including five journalists.
