MoH, UNDP cooperation discussed

Manama, June 29 (BNA): Health Minister Faeqa bint Saeed Al Saleh received the Acting UNDP Resident Representative, Amin Al Sharqawi. Programme official Ali Salman Saleh, and MoH's Assistant Undersecretary for Hospital Affairs, Dr. Waleed Al Mannie, also attended the meeting. The meeting comes within the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the UN Development Progamme (UNDP), following the high-level coordinative meeting last April. They discussed cooperation on the relevant sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the national health priorities. The minister expressed delight at the successful coordinative meeting held between the World Health Organsiation (WHO)'s regional office, the UNDP and health ministry officials, and all the relevant sides regarding the SDGs having to do with the Health Enhancement Strategy 2015-2018. She stressed the ministry's keenness on deepening the cooperation with the WHO and the UNDP aimed to create new visions and horizons to contribute in boosting the efforts and high-quality preventative health programmes. Al Sharqawi expressed his appreciation of the ministry's efforts and initiatives to develop the practical partnership, especially regarding ways of benefiting from the international expertise, capabilities and consultation and consecrating them to implement the SDGs and health-related strategies in the health sector.. In conclusion of the meeting, Al Saleh expressed her gratitude to the UNDP's efforts, aspiring to carry on to complete the ministry's plans and bilateral meetings in the upcoming phase on SDGS.
