Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for World Peace launches new competition

Dubai: Dr. Hamad Al Shaikh Ahmad Al Shibani, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for World Peace, and Chairman of Dubai International Peace Convention (DIPC), has announced the launch of a new competition aimed at turning the 3rd edition of DIPC into a smart event in line with the recent initiative of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to turn Dubai into a smart city. Al Shibani made the announcement at a meeting with the organising committees of Dubai International Peace Convention to discuss preparations for the event which will be organised by the Award in April 2014. Affirming that the event should be organised in a way that reflects the stature of UAE, Al Shibani urged nationals and residents to participate in the competition and contribute their proposals for the smart event. He noted that a specialised committee will consider all proposals and announce the winners who will receive generous cash prizes. He further noted that contributions should be proposals and ideas that are unique, unprecedented, not presented nor implemented before, and should also be relating to the smart government initiative. He said each participant can send more than one idea or proposal to the following e-mail address: info@mrawp.gov.ae no later than 11th January 2014. On his part, Dr Omar Al Khateeb, Coordinator-General of Dubai International Peace Convention, noted that a chat group for the convention was launched on WhatsApp as a first step to bring together all members of the board of trustees and committees and all other workers, in addition to other relating similar activities to be announced later. Al Khateeb noted that the 3rd edition of DIPC will be a smart event by all standards. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
