MOI Affirms: Only Gas Leakage,and Not Sabotage was the Cause of Blast at Istanbul Restaurant

Doha, March 24 (QNA) - The Ministry Of Interior (MOI) has revealed that it was just a gas leakage which was the cause of the blast that took place at Istanbul Restaurant , located in a petrol station nearby the Landmark Mall on Feb.27. Brigadier Hassan Ahmed Al Obaidly, the Director of Forensic Lab. Department at the MOI made clear in a press conference held at the National Command Centre here on Monday that the reason of the accident was a gas leakage from one of the pizza gas stoves which has been left open all the night and categorcally denied and ruled out any sabotage of explosives that might be the cause of the blast as the results of the investigations revealed. The Director of Forensic Lab. Department said that the gas tanks in the restaurent have not exploded at all and remained as they are even after the blast , the matter which confirmed that the gas leakage was the real cause of the blast. The Director of the Forensic Laboratory further said that this type of gas ,according to Qatar Fuel (WOQOD) company , is placed as a fluid status inside the gas cylinders or tanks by the company itself.(QNA) The accident has claimed 11 people and more than 30 others were wounded in addition to material damages of the building in which the restaurant is located. which afflicted HE the Attorey General Dr. Ali bin Fetais Al Marri has decided to refer the case of the fire that erupted at Q-Mart petrol station, near Landmark shopping complex, to the criminal court after investigations into the case were completed. The decision annuls a previous decision issued by HE Dr. Al Marri to ban any publications related to the case on 6.3.2014.(QNA)
