MoI enters Hall of Fame of Global Palladium Group

Abu Dhabi (WAM): The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has successfully managed to enter the Hall of Fame of the Palladium Group for its excellence in the competition of Balanced Scorecard (BSC) and Strategic Alignment applications. This feat marks the MoI as the second ministry to enter the Hall of Fame internationally after the Ministry of Interior in South Korea. The U.A.E.'s MoI is the first to receive such a recognition in both Arab and regional levels. On Sunday afternoon, Lt. General H.H Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior received Major General Dr. Abdul Quddous Al Obaidly, Commander General Assistant for Quality and Excellence, the head of the work team and General Coordinator of the Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Awards Programme at the MoI, along with his team. Sheikh Saif was briefed on the award and its importance. He congratulated the head of the work team and its members for the new international achievement. Sheikh Saif urged the team to continue their pursuit of excellence and maintain their achievements. The ceremony was attended by Major General Nasser Salim Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary-General of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Director General of the Headquarters Affairs at Abu Dhabi Police; Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General at the Ministry of Interior; and Colonel Faisal Sultan Al Shuaibi, Director of Strategy and Performance Development at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters. Major General Dr. Abdul Quddous Al Obaidly received the award during a ceremony held recently on the side-lines of the annual conference that honours successful institutions in applying the BSC. The event was held in Boston, USA and attended by a host of experts, specialists, and representatives of the winning countries and senior officials of the group. In a statement issued by the Palladium Group, the MoI was congratulated for its successful entrance into the Hall of Fame. This year’s list included 14 leading entities representing 12 developed countries. The statement also praised the MoI’s efforts in applying the concepts of BSC and Strategic Alignment in accordance with the highest levels of professionalism, and in fulfilling each requirement for entering the elite international Hall of Fame. The statement also explained that since 2009, the MoI of the U.A.E. has succeeded in realising its performance indicators related to the reduction of traffic accident fatalities, crimes and delinquencies -such as illegal residency- and to successfully implementing e-transformation. Among other indicators, the MoI has also achieved the highest levels of customer satisfaction. Major General Dr. Al Obaidly attributed this success to the developmental and enlightened directives and support of Lt. General H.H Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and his ongoing insistence to keep the police institution at the forefront of the most effective and efficient institutions internationally. Major General Al Obaidly considered this achievement as clear evidence of the effectiveness of the strategic management of the MoI. This strategy leads and directs the essential role of the MoI in providing security and stability through various teams that work effectively both day and night in order to allow the MoI to reach such high levels of the strategic indicators. The MoI executes its strategies by making the best decisions in the fields of strategic management, risks, and performance management of this security establishment. Major General Al Obaidly said, "The ministry is not adopting the BSC as only a measurement and assessment tool, but rather as a mechanism and a tool for strategic management and as an administrative system that is extensively used by all sectors – which is in order to synchronise its activities, operations, and practices within the vision and strategy. This is additionally to improve internal and external communications and to monitor performance according to the objectives. The ministry has recognised and honoured the sector that has clearly achieved excellence in executing the BSC according to the approaches of Dr. Robert Kaplan (Harvard Business School) and Dr. David P. Norton, founder of the Palladium Group. The approaches used by the ministry have been the framework to connect strategies and operations in order to achieve such distinguished performance results." The BSC led the ministry to develop plans for personal development in order to improve the knowledge and expertise of its employees, and to measure their performances during year. The ministry also established a bonus system to reward each employee who has helped in the successful implementation of its strategy, and drive positive results. This has encouraged the employees to exert further effort to increase productivity and achieve the objectives; all while gaining new expertise and capabilities in strategic management through their continuous education and training on the new concepts and mechanisms. According to the organiser, winning institutions gain several benefits. The group publishes their names in the Harvard Business Review, a journal read by more than 250,000 global subscribers; publishes a press release stating the names of the winners that have entered the Hall of Fame via the Palladium global network (Madrid-London-New York); and publishes annual and periodic information regarding their general performance. The Hall of Fame at the Palladium Group honours the organisations that have achieved business excellence by using the Balanced Scorecard (BSC), strategic management, and performance management in a prominent and distinguished way. The BSC follows a very simple concept "what is measured, is what was achieved and what has succeeded." This theory was set by the founders of the Palladium Group, Dr. Robert Kaplan and Dr. David Norton, where the link between the card and its strategic operations reaches desired corporate goals. - Emirates News Agency, WAM – http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395272177545.html
