MOI Signs A Purchase Contract of 17 Fast Patrol Boats from Ares Shipyard Ltd.

Doha, April 16 (QNA) -The ministry of interior (MOI) represented in the Logistics Department on Wednesday signed an accord with Turkey's Ares Shipyard Ltd. to build and deliver 17 fast patrol boats ,worth about 800 million riyals, with a view to enhancing the capabilities of the Coasts and Borders Security Department (CBSD) . Signing the contract for the MOI was Brigadier Eng. Abdulaziz Abdullah Al Ansari , the director of the Logistics Department while it was signed for the Turkish side by Kerim Kalafatoglu, Chairman & Executive Director for Ares Shipyard Ltd. The contract signing ceremony was also attended by HE turkish ambassador to qatar Ahmet Demirok , director of the Coast and Border Security Department brigadier Ali Ahmed Al-Badeed and Director Of The Financial Affairs Department at the ministry of interior Brigadier Ahmed Al Jammal . In his address at the signing ceremony , brigadier al anasri said the contract struck between the MOI and Ares Shipyard Ltd. , the biggest in shipbuilding industry in Turkey came after two years of quiet and considerable study. During this period information and necessary data were collected about the companies working in the field worldwide and the final results were in favour of the Turkish partner, he noted. Talks with the Turkish company Ares Shipyard Ltd. has lasted for almost a year until an agreement was concluded concerning all items and specifications included in the contract, and which matched the highest possible standards, said Brigadier Al Ansari . Brigadier al ansari further said that the strategy of the Ministry of Interior, operating under the Qatar National Vision 2030, and which aims at achieving the highest degree of security and stability, has focussed, in view of Qatar is a peninsula, on three axes with respect to the development of the Department of Coasts and Borders Security, "the first of which is to reviving the human element through scholarship to many world countries and to study in specialized maritime colleges, and build the naval base of the coastss and borders security department. Today the third axis comes which is aimed at supplying the said department with fast boast to enable it perform its tasks and functions most properly and efficiently . Earlier last march Turkey signed an MoU with Qatar to deliver 17 fast patrol boats for the Qatar Coast Guard Services at the fourth Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (Dimdex 2014) . The agreement was signed between Qatars Brig. Abdullah Saad al-Kharji, Deputy of Director Logistics Department, Ministry of Interior and Turkeys Kerim Kalafatoglu, Chairman & Executive Director for Ares Shipyard Ltd. Ares Shipyard Ltd is a privately-owned Turkish company based in Antalya that specialises in building patrol boats and vessels for military and paramilitary use. Murad Bayar, Turkeys Undersecretary for Defence Industry, told Gulf Times that he was pleased that Turkish companies were developing good relations with their Qatari counterparts and hoped that this co-operation would increase further in the future. Turkey has brought in around 25 of its companies to the mega exhibition.(END)
