MONGOLIA CAN DEVELOP BIRDS WATCHING TOURISM

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ Some 480 kinds of birds have been registered in Mongolia so far. About 300 of them are migratory birds, and it means that Mongolia can develop the bird watching tourism, ornithologists say. Mongolia's Association of Ornithologists and the Union of Ornithologists at Mongolia's State University (MSU) organized last weekend the National day of bird watchers for the fifth year near the river Terelj. Led by a professor S.Gombobaatar, the head of Mongolia's Association of Ornithologist, the participants watched 20 kinds of birds, and now they will reserve information and files about these birds in the database of the Association. The Minister of Culture, Sport and Tourism Ms Ts.Oyungerel says that the bird watching tourism is the economy based on a knowledge. “There are few professional guides and researchers whose thorough knowledge about birds would help develop this type of the tourism,” officials say.
