Mongolia topped as emerging destination

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Wanderlust travel magazine of the United Kingdom named Mongolia as the top emerging destination. At the category of emerging destination, Mongolia received the highest satisfaction percentage (96.67%) from Wanderlust readers, followed by Tajikstan (95.15%), Venezuela (95.15%), Taiwan (94.28%) and Georgia (94%). The travel magazine described Mongolia as a country that can be epitomized by big skies and huge expanses of near-empty land. ‘There are few roads, and nomadic herders still roam the steppe as they have for centuries. In this busy, increasingly homogenized world, it's easy to see why it's the top emerging destination of 2013,’ said the magazine about Mongolia. At the end of 2013, the magazine asked its readers to tell about their year in travel. In many categories Wanderlust asked reader to list up to four entries or countries visited and score each one on its merits. The final positions were based on an average score for the entry (converted to a percentage) – so the results are based on satisfaction rather than the number of votes.
