Mongolian contemporary art exhibition opens in New York

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A contemporary art exhibition by Mongolian artists opened in Gallery MC, New York on October 1. At the opening reception, the Ambassador and Permanent representative of Mongolia to the United Nations Mr Od made a speech and thanked the gallery owner and curator Boshko Boskovich and co-organizers from Mongolia. The exhibition paints a picture of artists that span different generations; most of them preoccupied with the reality of their immediate environment and different aspects of contemporary society and identity. The selection comprises of twelve artists and there is a clear delineation between the works of artists that draw their inspiration from their heritage and the ones that are more lyrical in nature. The authors utilize the medium of drawing, painting, photography, collage, sculpture, performance and video to create their proper narratives. The artists included in the exhibition are B.Dolgoon, B.Nasantsengel, B.Nandin-Erdene, D.Batzorig, Ts.Enkhjin, G.Munkhbolor, J.Munkhtsetseg, L.Khongorzul, M.Batzorig, Nomad Wave collective, T.Enkhbold and Yo.Tuguldur. The exhibition was sponsored by Altai Expeditions in partnership with Ts.Enkhjin, the Chairman of the Union of Mongolian Artists, B.Nasantsengel and E.Zolbayar from Ulaanbaatar. Valuable support was provided by the Permanent Mission of Mongolia to the United Nations in New York. The exhibition will be open until October 31.
