Mongolian indie band tours Europe

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Lemons, a Mongolian indie-rock band, is planning to tour European cities on March 18-27. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the band will start its tour from London’s Guanabara Club on March 18. During the tour, they will perform their hits from last three albums, as well as songs of European bands such as the Beatles, Keane and Coldplay. After London, they will visit Manchester (March 19), Istanbul (March 23) and Vienna (March 27). The Lemons is a four-member Mongolian rock band formed in Ulaanbaatar. They released their debut album in 2006. Their Red Album was the first rock album released by a Mongolian band to achieve national commercial success without heavily compromising its rock sound. Critics described it as sounding similar to early work of The Strokes. The band was able to devote its energies full time to music and began playing multiple shows a week at Ulaanbaatar music venues. In 2009, The Lemons released their second album to expand the band's sound to include influences from post rock to punk rock. Due to its more challenging sound, the album was less popular than their first effort; though in the three years since their first album the core Mongolian rock audience had expanded significantly and almost universally declared it a triumph. The band’s new album will be on sale in Ulaanbaatar this April.
