Monthly 450 US flights use Iran’s airspace

Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 26 By Umid Niayesh - Trend: Monthly about 450 US flights pass over Iranian airspace, the Deputy Director of Iranian Airports Organization Ebrahim Shoushtari said, Fars news agency reported Nov. 26. The number of the US airlines which use Iran’s airspace is averagely seven per day, Shoushtari added. Number of international transit flights over Iran's air zone has sharply increased from mid-July following the Malaysian plane crash in Ukraine and security problems in Iraq, the official said, adding the Islamic Republic has established 11 new air routes in two recent months. Totally 101 air routes with length of 61,776 kilometers are operational in Iran’s air zone, Shoushtari said. The number of transit flights over Iran’s airspace during the first seven months of the current Iranian fiscal year has increased by 38.5 percent year on year, he said, adding a total number of 136,141 flights passed Iran's air space in the mentioned period. Over 26 million passengers used Iran’s domestic and international flights during the 7-month period, which indicates a rise by 13 percent compared to the preceding year, the official added. Of the mentioned figure over 6.682 million passengers used the international flights, Shoushtari said. The number of international flights to and from Iran increased by 23 percent during the 6-month period from March 21 to Sept. 22. Totally, 24.6 million passengers used Iran’s domestic and international flights during the period.
