More than 20 illegal Cambodian workers nabbed

CHON BURI, Oct 17 (TNA) -- Police early Sunday arrested more than 20 Cambodian workers who have entered and worked in Thailand illegally, police said. More than 100 policemen, also in plainclothes, stormed into two apartments in Bang Lamung and Nong Prue districts in the eastern province of Chon Buri, police said. There were no signs of illegal foreign workers staying at both apartments. Finally, police searched a temporary house of construction workers and found more than 20 Cambodian men and women who had crossed and worked in Thailand illegally. All of them are being detained and charged with entering and working without proper documents, police said. People living near the construction site reportedly told police that there were many illegal migrant workers living in the vicinity and most of them wandered in the province selling flowers while children beg for money at markets or in front of bars. Most of these illegal workers fled late Saturday after learning that police would come and arrest them. (TNA)
