More blood test on Thai woman in hospital for Ebola

BANGKOK, August 24 (TNA) - A blood test will be conducted on a 48-year-old woman again on Sunday to reconfirm that she is not contracted with the deadly Ebola disease. Dr. Opas Karnkawinpong, deputy director-general of the Ministry’s Disease Control Department, said the female patient was recovering and had no fever. However, a blood test would be conducted on the patient again Sunday and the sample would be sent to Chulalongkorn Hospital which was coordinating with the UN World Health Organisation for analysis to ensure that the patient was free from the Ebola. In another development, Dr. Apichai Mongkol, director-general of Medical Sciences Department, said 100 sets of Germany-made medical equipment used for testing Ebola disease on suspected patients would arrive in Thailand on Monday. The equipment would be “strictly used” on people suspected of carrying the disease and returning from Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia and from Lagos, Nigeria's biggest city. (TNA)
