More chartered flights arranged for Thai evacuees from Egypt

BANGKOK, August 22 (TNA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has arranged more chartered flights to evacuate additional Thai nationals from Egypt. Nuttavudh Photisaro, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, told journalists on Thursday that the Thai Ambassador in Cairo has chartered the MS3000 Flight of the Egypt Air’s 332-seat Boeing 777 to carry more Thai evacuees from Cairo at 6pm on August 22 (local time), which is scheduled to arrive in Thailand at 8:15am on August 23 (local time). Nuttavudh acknowledged that, of the new batch of Thai people who have registered for the evacuation, 164 cannot board the chartered flight;, so, commercial flights are being arranged for them, and that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will not fine those who cancel their return trip, as it is under the responsibility of the Thai Students Association in Cairo. According to the senior official, Thai Airways International (THAI), the national flag carrier, has informed that there are about 80 vacant seats on its daily flight from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and it will be, thus, worked out to bring back home the remaining registered Thai evacuees from Egypt. The senior official noted if more Thai people register for their return home, more flights can be chartered for them, but it is unnecessary now to seek support from the Royal Thai Air Force's aircraft.
