More rain in southern provinces next week

BANGKOK, Nov 22 (TNA) - Heavy rain is expected in southern Thailand from the middle of this week due to high pressure from China covering the upper part of the kingdom and the South China Sea, according to a warning issued by the Meteorological Department office in the southern province of Songkhla. The announcement said waves in the Gulf of Thailand are expected to be high while heavy thundershowers are expected in the South from Surat Thani province further down. Waves in the Gulf are expected to be as high as two or three metres and small trawlers should stay ashore between November 25 – 28, it said. Concerned government agencies in Songkhla have been requested to stay on high alert and prepare to render assistance to people in case of flooding as several coastal districts in the province are now facing heavy rain.
