More Thais expected to visit Japan in 2015

BANGKOK, March 1 (TNA) - More than 700,000 Thais are expected to visit Japan this year due to several positive factors including an exemption of visa offered by the Tokyo government, cheaper airfares and declining yen currency. Anek Srichivachart, president of Thai-Japanese Tourism Promotion Association, said more than 600,000 Thais visited Japan in 2014 while there were signs that the number would jump to more than 700,000 in 2015 due to those positive factors. Anek, also vice chairman of the council and president of the Association of Thai Travel Agents, opined that the number of Japanese visiting Thailand also increased. More than 1.2 million Japanese tourists visited Thailand in 2014 while the number should rise this year because of improved political situation in Thailand and an increase in campaigns inviting foreign tourists to visit the kingdom. It was estimated that around 1.3 – 1.4 million Japanese would visit Thailand in 2015. (TNA)
