Moscow, Istanbul agree to boost cooperation

ISTANBUL, April 16. /TASS/. Moscow and Istanbul have signed a cooperation program between the governments of the two cities. Moscow City Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and his Istanbul’s counterpart Kadir Topbas put their signatures to the document. The Moscow city mayor is in Turkey on an official three-day visit. "I am confident that the signing of the cooperation program today we are laying down new solid basis for closer interaction between our two cities, as well as between our economies, business, in the spheres of commercial relations and joint investments," Sobyanin said on Thursday. The cooperation program envisions exchange of experience and implementation of joint projects in the key spheres of Moscow and Istanbul’s city economies, including development of municipal transport, packing zones, and introduction and use of computer modeling in the traffic infrastructure. The two sides agreed to support dialog in the fields of the city development planning, cultural heritage preservation, and higher quality of the tourism service. The sides made a decision to organize regular exchange of delegations between Moscow and Istanbul in the spheres of business, culture and sports. Read more
