Motive behind Krabi massacre likely linked to land dispute

KRABI, July 16 (TNA) - Thai police are questioning suspects, allegedly involved in the Krabi massacre before they are scheduled to hold a press conference on the case at 4 pm today at the Krabi provincial police office. It is initially believed that the motive behind the brutal massacre of eight people, including a village head and three children at his house is related to debt and land disputes. Earlier, the Fourth Army Region commander Piyawat Nakwanich said in a phone interview with the Thai News Agency that nine suspects had been temporarily detained under the powerful Section 44 at the15th Infantry Regiment in Krabi, which was situated near the crime scene. Village chief Worayut Sanglang and his family members were murdered by gunmen inside their home in Ao Luk district on Monday night. (TNA)
