MP Calls For Increasing U.S. Strikes Against Islamic State

BAGHDAD / NINA / A member of the parliamentary Commission on Security and Defense, Hoshyar Abdullah called to increase U.S. air strikes on sites of the Islamic State, noting that the federal army and the Peshmerga need to make rapid progress on the ground. He told the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA /: "The (IS) organization has great potential and that posed a threat to the countries that extremists flow from to join, and this is one of the key points that made the United States adopts the idea of creating an international coalition to fight this organization, stressing that American military assistance to Iraqi military forces and the Peshmerga have contributed significantly in progress on the ground and restore many of the areas seized by (IS) since more than two months. " He added "the army and the Peshmerga forces need more military support from the United States through the intensification of air strikes to strongholds of the (IS) to make more rapid progress on the ground, and eliminate terrorism in Iraq." On the International Conference to Support Iraq, which will be held in Paris middle of this month, Abdullah said: "We hope the success of this conference and to collect largest number of states to join the alliance announced by the United States to fight (IS), and help Iraq to end the presence of this terrorist organization, which pose a threat to the entire world." It is mentioned that the office of French President, Francois Hollande announced yesterday that "France will host an international conference on the security situation in Iraq in the fifteenth of this month, in the presence of President Fuad Masum. The office explained that "French president will visit Iraq next Friday before three days of the conference to show France's support for Iraq's leaders in the fight against militants of the Islamic State. / End
