M'sian DPM, Jusuf Expected To Discuss Maritime Boundary Issues, Says Ambasasdor

By Azeman Ariffin JAKARTA, April 7 (Bernama) -- Deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin and his Indonesian counterpart Jusuf Kalla are expected to discuss maritime boundary issues as well as language and cultural cooperation during his three-day official visit to Indonesia starting Tuesday. Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia Zahrain Mohamed Hashim said Muhyidddin, who is also the education minister, would meet Indonesia's education and culture minister Anies Rasyid Baswedan and research, technology and higher education minister Muhammad Nasir. He said, on education, among the issues to be discussed were the authorisation to set up schools for Indonesian workers' children especially in Sarawak. "At present, there are 50 Indonesian schools in Sabah and the Sarawak government has given the approval to set up such schools in the state," he told a press conference here Monday. Muhyiddin is expected to have a dinner with 400 Malaysians at the Grand Hyatt Jakarta Hotel after his arrival on Tuesday afternoon. On Wednesday, Muhyiddin is also scheduled to make a courtesy call on Indonesian President Joko Widodo before meeting Jusuf and having a luncheon with the vice-president. In the evening he will be meeting Malaysian businessmen. On Thursday, Muhyiddin is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the Malaysia-Indonesia Clerics and Preachers Muzakarah (forum). Themed 'Malaysia-Indonesia Unity In Tackling Extremism', it is expected to be attended by 60 clerics and preachers from both countries. Two papers will be presented during the forum namely from Federal Territories Mufti Dr Zulkifli Muhammad Al-Bakri and Chairman of the Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI) Prof Dr Din Syamsuddin. In the evening of the last day of his visit, Muhyiddin is scheduled to meet with Indonesian media editor-in-chiefs before returning home. -- BERNAMA
