Muklis Tested Negative Of Ebola

Madiun, East Java, Nov 5 (Antara) - Muklis (29) who has so far been treated in an isolated ward for fear of having contracted Ebola has been allowed to leave the ward after having tested negative of the disease. "This afternoon or tomorrow he will be transferred to a common ward," the head of medical service department of dr Soedono hospital that treated the patient, dr Sjaiful Anwar SpJP, said here on Wednesday. He said the decision to transfer him out of the isolated ward followed an official confirmation from the health ministry that the patient had tested negative of ebola. He said besides the laboratory test results the patient was transferred to a common room because his condition was also improving. "His condition is improving. His body temperature is normal while the number of his thrombocyte cells has also increased almost to a normal level," he said. He said that special standards of treatment would still be applied because the incubation period has not yet ended or would only end on November 15. "The patient still needs treatment as he has tested positive for malaria," he said. Muklis, villager of Gemarang, Madiun, had so far been given special treatment for fear he has contracted ebola after returning from working in Liberia, West Africa, at the end of October. He had symptoms like those found in an ebola patient such as high temperature.
