Mumtalakat CEO honoured by Russian President

Moscow, May 25 (BNA): Chief Executive of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company, the kingdom’s sovereign wealth fund, Mahmood Hashim Al-Kooheji was granted the Friendship Medal by Russian President Vladimir Putin to become the first Bahraini who receives the distinguished award. The honour was bestowed in an award distribution ceremony held at Konstantinovsky Palace on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). The Friendship Medal is a Russian award created per a presidential decree number 442 on March 3, 1994 to honour very important persons who contributed to boosting relations and cooperation with Russia and the Russian people. A total of 350 personalities received the medal since its inception. The award was conferred on Al-Kooheji in tribute for his efforts to bolster partnership between Mumtalakat Holding Company and the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) which was launched in 2014. Al-Kooheji took part in SPIEF, held from May 24 to 26. He spoke in a dialogue entitled “Banking Activities and Funding in Nascent Markets”. The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is an annual event casting light on business and the economy. It is considered as a global platform to discuss main economic issues facing Russia, nascent markets and the world.
