Municipality Minister: We Work to Qualify Customer Service Staff to Deal with Persons with Disabilities

Doha, October 12 (QNA) - HE the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning Sheikh Abdurrahman bin Khalifa Al-Thani has underlined his ministry's care and appreciation for people with disabilities, especially hearing impairment. He referred in a speech at the graduation ceremony of the first batch of a programme on sign language for dealing with disability to his Ministry's earnest effort aimed to provide at all municipalities and departments qualified employees in sign language, besides providing a service of communication with customer service in that language. He stressed that this programme is only the beginning of a series of similar programmes seeking to develop municipal resources in dealing with people with hearing impairment. HE Sheikh Abdurrahman bin Khalifa Al-Thani expressed the hope that the first batch of graduates of the "sign language" programme will form the first nucleus in sign language. He expressed his thanks to Qatar Cultural and Social Centre for the Deaf, and Chairman of the Centre's Board of Directors Ali Obeid Al-Sinnari for their keenness on the success of the programme.
