Museum to be dedicated to Vietnam’s islands

Da Nang, March 3 (VNA) - Hoang Sa district in Vietnam's central Da Nang city and Japan's Wright Architecture Company have signed a consulting contract on designing the Hoang Sa Museum. The museum's design was inspired by a seal made in 1835 for the Nguyen Dynasty's King Minh Mang when he established the Hoang Sa (Paracel) Flotilla. It will be built this year on a 685sq.m area on Hoang Sa Street with a total investment of 89,000 USD. The design, which was developed by architects Tran Quoc Thanh, Nguyen Quang Huy and Fuminori Minakami, features modern architecture and Vietnamese sculptures. The museum will store and display collections of artefacts and documents on Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands. Da Nang is home to thousands of Vietnamese fishermen, many of whom have been involved in ongoing attempts to defend Vietnam's sovereignty over Hoang Sa archipelago.-VNA
