Myanmar, Thailand to open new permanent border trading point

BANGKOK, May 5 (TNA) - Trade and tourism activities between Thailand and its neighbor Myanmar are expected to boost further after the two countries open a new permanent border trading point in Prachuap Khiri Khan province this Wednesday, said Chote Chotiyakorn, Vice Chairman of Prachuap Khiri Khan Chamber of Commerce on Sunday. Mudong border trading point will be open this Wednesday, a delay of about one month, due to an improvement of the road linking between Mudong village and Myeik province in Myanmar, Chote said. Following the road improvement, travelling between the village and the province would take only about four hours. He said the opening of the new border trading point will help facilitate cross border trade as well as boosting tourism between the two countries. People wishing to travel to Mudong village could carry temporary border pass issued by Myanmar authorities if they do not have passport. (TNA)
