Myanmar, Thailand start visa-free travels August 11

BANGKOK, July 29 (TNA) - Myanmar and Thai travellers who hold ordinary passports will reciprocally enjoy their “visa free” travels for a 14-day period, starting from August 11, 2015. Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister General Tanasak Patimapragorn told journalists of the update on Wednesday, noting, however, that the agreed visa waiver applies only to Myanmar and Thai citizens travelling through international airports of both countries via commercial flights. To exhibit greater bilateral cooperation, Myanmar also officially opened a consulate in Thailand’s northern resort Chiang Mai Province on July 28 to provide consular services for Myanmar citizens living or travelling to the Thai North.
