Myanmar workers arrested in tourist murder case not scapegoats: Police

BANGKOK, October 5 (TNA) - A senior police officer said that the two Myanmar migrant workers arrested by police on charges of murdering two British tourists on Kho Tao island are not scapegoats. Pol. Maj. Gen. Kiattipong Khaosam-ang, former police chief in southern province of Surat Thani, said on the day the bodies of the victims were found, he, then Surat Thani police chief, inspected the crime scene himself. He said Mr. Miller’s Iphone and a pair of sunglasses, had been earlier missing and were later retrieved after the suspects reportedly told police investigators that they had stolen the two items. Police also returned valuable belongings of the victims to their relatives. He insisted that the belongings of the victims retrieved after the suspects’ confession and forensic evidence can confirm that the suspects are not scapegoats. (TNA)
