Myanmar workers return home during Thai New Year Festival

BANGKOK, April 8 (TNA) – Hundreds of thousands of Myanmar migrant workers in Thailand are lining up at the border in Mae Sot, Tak Province to return home during the Thai New Year holiday. Police Colonel Pongnakorn Nakornsantipap, Tak provincial immigration commander, said the masses would usually appear during the April 6-17 period. Pongnakorn said at the same time, border police had already arrested a number of people smugglers for alleged human trafficking, with many admitting of plans to enter Thailand illegally during the busy period.
