Solo, C Java, Nov 26 (ANTARA) - Five teachers from Myanmar are learning mechanical skills at a state vocational school SMK Negeri 2 here under an International Cooperation School Program. This program is a cooperation program between Indonesia and Myanmar supported by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education (SEAMOLEC). "They will be at SMK Negeri 2 from November 22 to December 2 during which they will get theoretical as well as practical knowledge under the guidance of the school teachers," the school`s Bench Work instructor, Ali Ahmadi, said to newsmen here on Sunday. He said the Myanmarese teachers would learn three kinds of competence, namely bench work and in flash machine and lathe operations. He said problems did exist due to a language barrier but they could be overcome using sign language. One of the participants, Khwa Nyo Win Shein, said he is a lecturer at the Technical University of Myanmar. He said he participated in the program with the aim of studying in detail mechanical materials that are also found in his country. "Here I learned in more detail about them and could immediately practice them at the SMK 2 school workshop," he said. The head of the local Surakarta education service, Rahmat Sutomo, said the International Cooperation School Program is part of efforts to build cooperation with schools from outside the country. Indonesia, especially Solo, has an opportunity to share knowledge with Myanmar in the fields of information technology and civil work, he added.
