MyIPO Announces GIPVC 2015 With An ASEAN Centric Theme

KUALA LUMPUR, May 8 (Bernama) -- The Global Intellectual Property Valuation Conference (GIPVC) 2015 will be held here for two days beginning June 9, Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) director-general Shamsiah Kamaruddin announced Thursday. She said the GIPVC 2015 aims to bring a more regional focus with the three key strategic thrusts, namely pivot towards an ASEAN focus in support of Malaysia's ASEAN chairmanship; accelerate the ideas economy by leveraging on ideas, innovations and creativity to drive economic growth and create significant technological advances for the ASEAN community. "It also aims to commercialise and capture the value of the IP as the new asset class," she told reporters here. The second biennial conference, which carries a theme 'Ideas2Value: Accelerate ASEAN" is expected to bring together key industry players, influencers, stakeholders and policymakers to participate, engage, connect, converse and share their knowledge, best practices and experiences to develop a deeper understanding on how businesses can create ideas and extract value from their IP rights. Shamsiah said the GIPVC 2015 would be an excellent platform for communal conversations and dialogues between the private and public sectors on the diverse and emerging issues and challenges encountered by the industry players in the ASEAN IP community. "The timing of the GIPVC 2015 is very strategic with IP playing a more acute role in the new economy, where the pace of innovation is at lightning speed, rapidly changing market with product life cycles getting significantly shorter and competition has never been so intense and fierce," she said. Therefore, she said the GIPVC 2015 carries fundamental topics like capturing IP value to other trending and pioneering issues such as big data, Internet of Things, 3D Printing, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics to the future of Internet and IP plays a pivotal role in all these topics. "This is one conference not to be missed as it offers delegates an excellent opportunity to connect with the leading minds of the IP community in the region as it accelerates into the ideas economy," she said. --BERNAMA
