N. Korea Fires Short-Range Projectiles to Sea of Japan

Seoul, March 21 (Jiji Press)--North Korea fired several short-range projectiles toward the Sea of Japan on Monday afternoon, according the South Korean military's Joint Chiefs of Staff. The projectiles, launched from around the northeastern city of Hamhung, flew an estimated 200 kilometers. It is not clear whether they were missiles or rockets. The launch was the latest in a series of provocations by the reclusive state in response to the ongoing U.S.-South Korean joint military drills. North Korea fired six short-range projectiles from a new multiple rocket launcher system on March 3, two Skud short-range ballistic missiles on March 10 and two Nodong medium-range ballistic missiles on Friday. The flight range of one of the Nodong missiles reached 800 kilometers. END
