NACC reports net assets of ex-Cabinet members

BANGKOK, June 27 (TNA) - The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has publicly reported net assets or net liabilities of ex-Thai Cabinet members of the previous Pheu Thai Party-led coalition government, headed by former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra. The NACC said on Friday that former deputy prime minister Plodprasop Suraswadi was the richest ex-Cabinet member in the previous Yingluck administration, followed by ex-prime minister Yingluck herself. The NACC disclosed that, after the ex-Cabinet members left their offices on May 7, 2014, Plodprasop had a total net asset of about 967.52 million baht, followed by Yingluck of 574.35 million baht. According to the NACC report, former deputy prime minister Police General Pracha Promnog was the third richest ex-Cabinet member with his total net asset of about 367.52 million baht, followed by ex-deputy defence minister General Yuthasak Sasiprapa with his total net asset of about 306.67 million baht and ex-labour minister Police Captain Chalerm Yubumrung with his total net asset of about 171.15 million baht. The anti-graft panel noted, however, that Yingluck’s assets stipulated in her report and submitted to the anti-graft commission did not include luxurious watches she possessed and earlier informed to the NACC by an informant. A senior official at the NACC told journalists, meanwhile, that Yingluck informed the anti-graft agency earlier that she had sold the expensive watches and bought ornamental goods before she took up her political posts and she, therefore, decided not to report in her statement. But the official acknowledged that the NACC believed the information given by the ex-Thai premier was insufficient and would later request her to provide additional information to the anti-graft commission.(TNA)
