NARATHIWAT, May 16 (TNA) -- Schools reopened without a problem in the violence-plagued southern border province this morning as authorities implement tight security measures.

Parents were sending their children to local schools heavily manned by soldiers and defence volunteers in the morning.

Meanwhile, police, local administrators and volunteers were patrolling roads to schools. The patrols focused on regular routes local teachers used to go to schools and also in danger-prone areas.

Soldiers, police and volunteers would conduct road patrols again in the afternoon to ensure safety before people leave schools.

Security authorities were planning old and new routes for local teachers and school executives on a daily basis to guarantee their safety.

The measures complied with a previously concluded security plan. (TNA)
