Narathiwat organizes ‘Tung Yang Daeng Model’s fire drill

NARATHIWAT, Nov 30 (TNA) - The southern province of Narathiwat on Sunday organised a fire drill under the ‘Tung Yang Daeng Model’, considered as a first step under the policy of the Fourth Army Region commander Lt. Gen. Prakan Cholayuth, to keep schools in the deep south safe from insurgency attacks. The fire drill, attended by several senior and security officers took place at a school in Muang district. Security officials manning the school had to contact reinforcements to help contain the fire. Police, firefighting cars rushed in to douse the blaze while soldiers helped in overseeing that the drill run according to the plan. The ‘Tung Yang Daeng Model’ is initiated recently by Army chief Gen. Udomdej Sitabutr as a new safety model for schools in the deep South after many schools in Thung Yang Daeng and Mayo districts of Pattani were torched by arsonists in October. (TNA)
