Naryshkin urges journalists to keep an eye on developments in BRICS, SCO and EAEU

MOSCOW, June 10. /TASS/. Speaker of Russia’s State Duma Sergey Naryshkin has called on journalists to keep an eye on developments in BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). "I would like to ask you as professionals in the field of international journalism to keep an eye on events taking place in BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and, of course, in the Eurasian Economic Union," Naryshkin said. The chairman of the lower house of the Russian parliament recalled that Moscow had hosted the First BRICS Parliamentary Forum on Monday. "It was a truly milestone and, in many ways, a historic event," he said, adding that the association was already "setting new trends in international affairs." The 17th World Russian Press Congress held in Moscow from June 9 to June 13 is timed for the 70th anniversary of the Victory over Nazism. The event is held under the auspices of TASS and the World Association of Russian Press (WARP). Taking part in it are more than 500 Russian-language foreign media outlets from 63 countries. The World Russian Press Congress was first held in June 1999 at the initiative of ITAR-TASS. UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan took part in it. Since then, the congress was held in New York City, Paris, Berlin, Stockholm, Helsinki, Shanghai, Astana, Kiev and other cities. Read more
