National artist Prabhassorn Sevikul dies of heart failure

BANGKOK, September 18 (TNA) -- Thailand's national artist Prabhassorn Sevikul passed away at the age of 67 in his own home at around 2.09 am, local time this early morning, with heart failure. He was well known for his writings, which were usually written with beautiful words that would reflect the true society through realistic story telling method. His literature also incorporated the philosophy of life in every line. Mr Prabhassorn, also a diplomat, had written over 150 short stories, 60 novels and over 200 poems. Some of the novels have been turned into movies and TV drama including Lod Lai Mangkorn, Weila Nai Khuad Kaeo, Sheik and Khor Mhon Bai Nan Tee Ther Fan Yam Noon. He was the secretary-general of the Thai Writers Association, and was selected as the President of the same association twice. He was also a gifted story teller, where he would be able to relay his experiences from his journeys around the world to his listeners on the radio at the MCOT 96.5FM station, during the programme called, "The Journeys of the Mind". He has married to Chutima Worachat, a travel article writer, and have 2 sons. (TNA)
