National Committee for Disasters Management holds meeting

Manama, May 30 (BNA): Chief of Public Security, Chairman of the National Committee for Disasters Management, Major General Tariq Al-Hassan, today chaired the 37th meeting of the committee in the presence of members and representatives of ministries and concerned authorities. The meeting was also attended by Chairman of GCC Emergency Management Centre Dr. Adnan Al-Timimi and representatives from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Cooperation between IAEA and the National Committee for Disasters Management were discussed, as well as holding specialized courses in Bahrain to boost national capacities to deal with various situations. Al-Timimi gave an overview of the joint GCC courses and exercises implemented that targeted unifying efforts and development of expertise to address emergency situations may face GCC countries. Civil Defence Deputy Director Brig. Abdulaziz Al-Amir presented a brief on the joint national exercises executed by the competent agencies in Bahrain, noting more exercises of various scenarios to come. Maj-Gen Al-Hassan directed to continue conducting minor training exercises in preparation for holding a joint majour exercise to engage all concerned sides in the kingdom.
