National Day/ Q-Post Delivers Efficiently in Hi-Tech Age

Doha, December 12 (QNA) - Qatar General Postal Corporation (Q-Post) had a busy schedule over the past year organising and participating in international forums as well as doing internal projects to improve efficiency, performance and adapting new technology. Q-Post hosted the 25th Universal Postal Union Congress (UPU) in Doha from September 24 to October 15, 2012. Participants at the Congress adopted a new strategy for the member states called the Doha Postal Strategy for the period 2013-2016. Q-Post also took part in several Arab and regional conferences like the 10th meeting for the Express Mail Committee in Saudi Arabia; the 27th Meeting of GCC Undersecretaries for Postal Services in Bahrain; the 26th meeting for the Arab Postal Committee in Algeria, and the 5th meeting for the team work responsible for organizing and restructuring the committees of post and telecommunications in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Q-Post represented the State of Qatar at a number of exhibition such as the 8th GCC Stamp Exhibition in Jeddah, the 28th Asian Stamp Exhibition in Sharjah and the World Exhibition in Thailand. At the local level, Qatar General Postal Corporation updated its electronic network by providing new devices and equipment to keep up with the technological developments taking place in the country. It introduced the postal boxes service and provided them in housing complexes such as The Pearl Residential Towers and Ezdan Residential Complex. The corporation also implemented a pilot project for exchanging electronic remittances between Egypt Post and Qatar Post, and issued several commemorative stamps over the past year to different occasions.
