National Exams In Malinau Postponed Again

Malinau, E Kalimantan, April 18 (Antara) - All students of Senior High Schools and Vocational Schools (SMA/SMK) in Malinau district, East Kalimantan, failed to sit for national examinations as they didn`t receive the exam materials until Thursday morning (April 18/2013). "We don`t get confirmation when we will receive the examination materials," head of District Education and Sport affair office, Esly Parir, said here on Thursday. According to him, the national examination (UN) has to be postponed again while waiting the certainty from Education and Culture Ministry and the provincial education and culture affairs office. Earlier, he received information from the Education and Culture Ministry that the national exams should be conducted on Thursday. "How can we perform the exams without the examination text?" he asked. The national exams have to be carried out on Monday (April 15/2013), but the exams in 11 provinces of Central Indonesia should be postponed until Thursday (April 18) due to procurement and distribution problem of the exams texts. The 11 provinces that have to postpone the national exams are South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara and Gorontalo. The final examination has to be delayed from Monday (April 15), to Thursday (April 18), because the printing of examination papers was not ready yet, the Education and Culture Minister said. Esly expressed hope that the central government allows the provinces administration to print the exam sheets in effort to prevent any possible postponement of the exams.
